Mail Lists

Two different mailing lists have been set up for the road.  It is hoped that these mailing lists will ease any friction involved in being a resident on McIntosh Valley Lane.

Road Fund (Announcements)

roadfund@mcintoshvalleylane.org is an announce only list that is used by the officers of the McIntosh Valley Lane Road Fund to send announcements and newsletters to the members.  All residents on McIntosh Valley Lane will be subscribed to this list when they provide their email address to the Road Fund.  This list should have very low traffic.

You will need to take positive action to subscribe to the list. The subscription email will likely go to your junk folder. It will be titled “McIntosh Valley Lane Road Fund Subscription Verification” and be from “donotreply@dreamhost.com”. You may need to add the domain “@dreamhost.com” to your safe senders list to avoid messages going to your spam folder.

Road (Discussion)

The second mailing list is road@lists.mcintoshvalleylane.org and is a discussion list, which means anyone can subscribe to the list and post messages.  This is the place to send emails that will then be automatically sent to everyone on the list.  You must first sign up to the list before you can send any messages.  This list is intended as something of a virtual meeting, allowing residents to discuss various issues related to the road. You will need to add the domains “@mcintoshvalleylane.org” and “@lists.mcintoshvalleylane.org” to your email safe senders list to avoid the messages going to your spam folder.

A feature of this list is topics which auto-categorize messages into a specific set of topics.  This allows you to cut down on the amount of email you receive by selecting to receive only those messages you are interested in.  The keywords must be present within the subject of the message, or within the very first line of the message.  Currently the topics are:

  • Needed Repairs (keywords: ‘pot hole’, ‘repair needed’, ‘rough spot’)
    • The intent of this topic is to allow residents to report a specific spot in need of repair.  Those organizing work parties should pay attention to this topic.
  • Work Party (keyword: ‘work party’)
    • Those residents who want to be notified of when the next Work Party is scheduled should subscribe to this topic.  If you only want to know about Work Parties, then don’t subscribe to any other topics, and pick the option to not receive uncategorized messages.
  • Suggestions (keyword: ‘suggestion’)
    • The suggestions could be about the road, the website, or the mailing list.

To subscribe to the Road mailing list, simply send an email to road-request@lists.mcintoshvalleylane.org with the word “Subscribe” either in the subject line or the body of the message.  You will receive a message asking you to confirm your subscription.  You must take action as indicated in the message, otherwise you will NOT be subscribed.  After you have confirmed your subscription you will receive a welcome message with detailed information regarding list management.
